Shir Berenj; A Dessert with Rice

Shir Berenj is one of the delicious dessert which is mostly eating in Ramadan, but you can also eat it during different times of year. Keep reading so that myDorna makes you familiar with Shir Berenj.

Ingredients

A cup of rice
A cup of rosewater
Sugar (nearly 2 cups)
A bottle of milk (1 Liter)
Cream (2 or 3 tablespoons)
Salt (1/2 teaspoon)
Crushed cardamom (a tablespoon)

How to Cook?

Firstly, put a pot on stove with medium temperature that consists of 2 cups of water, a cup of rice and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Rile and cook ingredients until rice becomes so soft. After cooking rice, crush it with a spoon.
Add cream with milk to the pot and increase temperature to boil milk. Be careful so that milk wont outpour. But if you saw that milk is coming up, decrease temperature. When milk boiled, add sugar and cardamom and rile them to have materials mixed. Taste your dessert to see if sugar of that is low (not sweet or slightly sweet), add more. Wait for 90 minutes. Be careful and don’t let it pour up during this 90 minutes. In the last 10 minutes, add rosewater. Wait until a layer at the top of your dessert is created. When you saw the layer, turn off the stove. Now pour your dessert in a plate and wait until that becomes cold.
