Introduction
Sadol Saltane is the biggest inland caravanserai of Iran. In the past, this place was for resting passengers, but todays it is considered as a trading point in the Qazvin city. Sadol Saltaneh is an ideal choice for tourists who want to enjoy their travel in restaurants and cafes and visit handicrafts in a classic marketplace.
History
During the reign of Naser-Ad-Din Qajar a person with the name of Muhammad Baqer Sadol Saltane was the ruler of Qazvin. He was appreciated due to his business relationship with Ottoman Empire, so he decided to build a caravanserai. Construction started in 1892 and finished two years later. During Qajar era, Sadol Saltane was one of the most important trading places of Iran. After invasion of Russians and English soldiers during the world war I, they captured here for themselves. This place was not used as a trading center during the invasion of England and Russia. Some parts of here are now used as the factories of raisin and flour. In addition, wood cutting workshops are established here. This place was nearly forgotten until 1999, but cultural heritage department bought and started to repair it.
