About Milad Tower

Milad is the name of a multipurpose telecommunication tower located in the northwest of Tehran, the capital of Iran. The tower is 435 meters tall, the tallest tower in Iran and the sixth largest telecommunication and the ninth tallest tower in the world. Milad tower, with 13000 meters of infrastructure, is the first in terms of the size among all the towers of the world. This Tower is visible from nearly everywhere in Tehran, due to its great height and its appearance. some people believe that Milad tower is the symbol of the capital of Iran.

The construction of the tower was completed in January 1997 after three years of recognition and feasibility studies on the land, and in 2001, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, its name was changed to Milad –meaning Birth in English- tower. The construction of this tower lasted 11 years. In the first eight years, only 40% of the tower was completed, but by accelerating the project by Tehran Mayor, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, the next 60% was built in 30 months.

After 11 years since the beginning of the construction, the Milad Tower was opened with the presence of representatives of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, members of the Islamic Council of Tehran and Tehran‘s mayor, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, with the slogan of “The sky is close”. The ceremony was covered by more than 250 Iranian and foreign reporters.

There are three was to get to Milad Tower:

Tehran – Sheikh Fazlallah Nuri Highway – Shahid Hemmat Highway Entrance – Milad Tower.

Tehran– Hakim West Highway – After Chamran Highway- Milad Tower.

Tehran– Hemmat East Highway – outlet of Sheikh Fazlallah Noorie, Milad Tower.
