Hara Protected Area and Khrv Khouran International Wetland are mangrove forests located near Qeshm Island, Pol harbor, Hurmuz Island and Khamir port in Hormozgan province that with their beautiful birds and wild nature, attract many people to have a look at southern parts of Iran.

About Mangrove Forests of Qeshm

Mangrove forest of Qeshm is one of the five forests of Hormozgan province that with largeness of 85686 hectares is considered as a special ecosystem.

Mangrove has a lot of benefits, including its feature to cure skin diseases.

The southern shores of Iran, including Hormozgan, which are from arid and marine areas of salt water, have been covered with mangrove, a plant which can live in salty water. Mangrove is called Hara in Bandar Abbas.

Mangrove trees are placed in the shallow parts of Khur Khuran along the hills of the island. The depth of water in these areas is not more than 150 centimeters, so the forest when the water rises floats on Persian Gulf and when it dips, for 6 or 7 hours, are seen as forests of arid regions.

Mangrove forests are home to various types of aquatic animals, birds and amphibians. Of birds, we can mention heron, bacon, duck and seabird and from fish we may refer to crab, sea snail, shellfish and various types of frog. For this reason, mangrove forests are important because 80 percent of animals and birds prefer to spawn in this protected area.

How to Get There?

The only way to get to mangrove forests of Qeshm, is the sea. So, you have to be with an experienced mariner to reach these forests.
