Local Costume of Women of The Kurds in Kermanshah

After introducing local costume of Kurdish women in Kurdistan province, myDorna is going to introduce local costume of Kurdish women in Kermanshah province.

Local costume of Kurdish women in Kurdistan province has 9 parts about which we are going to discuss in the following lines.

Sarband

Some piece of fabrics which are tied around the women hair, are called Sarband. The color of Sarband is black.

Zirpoosh

Kind of cloth worn under the main shirt that the sleeve and collar of which can be closed by bottoms.

Pirahan (shirt)

The length of this dress is from neck to feet and the fabric of it is almost always colorful and flowery. The front part of dress (on the breast) is open and has a triangular shape.

Jelitgheh (jerkin)

Local jerkin of Kurdish women of Kurdistan province is short in a way that its length is down to waist of people.

The cloth is decorated by sequins and it is made of velvet.

Yal

This piece of cloth is similar to other Kurdish women`s, but it can be different in the shape of sleeves and decorations.

Ghaba

The length of Ghaba is like dress`s and the middle part of dress (on the breasts) and upper part of skirt is open and decorated by sequins and coins.

Roopoosh

Roopoosh is like chador that covers all part of the body and its length is about 2 meters and its width is as long as the width of waist of the person who is wearing it.

Shalvar (pants)

Pants of Kurdish women of Kermanshah province doesn`t have any difference with the other Kurdish women`s.

Kafsh (shoes)

The main and most known local shoes of Kurdish women of Kurdistan are called Giveh which are made by talented and skillful people.
