Hoz-e Soltan Salt Lake, Qom, Iran
Near to Tehran (capital of Iran), there is a small province called Qom and near to this city, there are salt lakes which are so famous for their beauty.
One of the salt lakes known as the “natural mirror” (called by local people) is named Hoz-e Soltan.
This lake is 40 kilometers away from Qom and located along with Persian Gulf highway.
The lake is also known as Save-Qom and Shahi.
The measurement of the lake is about 240 kilometers, in the east north part of Qom and neighbor to Alborz mountain.
Adding the information, the measurement changes during different seasons of year. For example, if the rain or snow sheds very well in autumn or winter, the lake expands otherwise it shrinks.
The lake is consisted of two holes: Hoz-e Soltan and Hoze-e Mare. In autumn and winter, firstly Hoz-e Mare is fiiled and then Hoz-e Soltan.
Apart from snow and rain as the sources for filling the lake, salty rivers are other sources.
In 1883, when Tehran to Qom road was being built, Hoz-e Soltan Salt Lake created.
How to get there?
Qom has access to train, so you have to firstly reach Qom and then by taking a taxi, you can get to Hoz-e Soltan Salt Lake.
