In the northern part of Iran, there is a province named Gonbad-e Kavus. In the central part the city there is a tower which is considered as the tallest brick-made tower of the world.
The name of Gonbad-e Kavus was given to here in 11th century and now it is the biggest town of Golestan province in Iran.
About Gonbad-e Kavus Tower
In the current location of Gonbad-e Kavus city, Gorgan (today capital city of Golestan province) was situated that it was significantly important due to its location which was on the way of Silk Road.
During the years of 1006 or 1007, the 60-meter`s-height tower was built, but after some years an earthquake happened and all the tower was destroyed and after some decades the remained parts of it were found.
About Gonbad-e Kavus City
This current city known as Gonbad-e Kavus was built in the year of 1305 A.C. at the time of Reza Shah Pahlavi. In fact, Reza Shah named here Gonbad-e Kavus.
It is worth to say that Germans were the architectures of this city.
